Hay claims all the pressure is on Sheffield

Featherstone Rovers coach Andy Hay has insisted that all the pressure is on Sheffield Eagles, when the two teams meet in the Championship play-offs this weekend.

The Eagles are aiming for a third consecutive Grand Final win, if they manage to beat Rovers. Fev have had an extra week’s rest, having not had to play an elimination game last week.

“All the pressure is on Sheffield this Sunday with them winning it the past two years,” said Hay.

““I’ll be going with the same team I’ve picked for the past few weeks. We’re good to go.

“They were full of enthusiasm the last time they played here and they put in a good performance. We was a bit off the pace that day but the stakes are high this time and we’ll be looking to make up for that.

“The lads are really enjoying themselves at the moment and we all just want to be at Headingley on October 5.”

Hay is himself a former Eagle, but will not be letting friendship get in the way of competition on Sunday.

“I enjoyed my time with the Eagles and I’m still good friends with Keith Senior who coaches there,” he added.

“I’m sure I’ll get a bit of stick from that side on Sunday but I’m here to do a job and make Featherstone a successful club.”
