Kingstone Press Championship Preview: Leigh Centurions v Dewsbury Rams

Tom Spencer, Tommy Goulden, Sam Hopkins and Martin Aspinwall are all unavailable for Leigh Centurions – but coach Paul Rowley believes his men still have enough strength to book a place in the Kingstone Press Championship Grand Final.

Rowley said: “We’re keen to get to the final and pick up more silverware, and we’re more than capable of doing so with the team we’ve got available.”

He added: “Dewsbury have got a really good kicking game from Anthony Thackeray and Tom Hemingway; that’s a big threat of theirs, and they’re also very enthusiastic and work hard.

“They’re a big side and they’re very physical. They like to stamp their authority on a match, and they’re not afraid to give you a bit of a tickle – but we’re expecting that and we’re ready for it.”

Makali Aizue returns from suspension to give Dewsbury Rams coach Glenn Morrison a major boost.

Morrison said: “There’s a great buzz around the club.

“We’ve said from the start of this year that we’d put a squad together that could match the top sides if we play for 80 minutes. For the last two weeks, we’ve done that.

“We’ve scored 75 points and conceded just six in our last two games, so we’re doing something right. We’ll go there confident.”
