Featherstone still awaiting Verlinden paperwork

Featherstone Rovers have confirmed that they are still waiting for the paperwork for Ryan Verlinden’s move to the club to be confirmed.

Verlinden, a 27-year-old prop forward, had his signing confirmed back in September, when it was announced that he would be joining Rovers along with Darwin-born pivot Sam Irwin.

“Ryan will have a great presence next year when he pulls on a Rovers shirt. He has a wealth of experience and will definitely add some size to our forwards,” said Fev coach Andy Hay when the signing was announced.

“He is another player who is looking forward to getting over here and helping us towards Super League.”

But fans may have to wait a little longer to see the Australian in a Rovers shirt.

An unnamed Cook Islands player will also not be arriving in Featherstone at all.

“The club can confirm that we are awaiting the relevant documentation for the arrival of Ryan Verlinden and are assisting Ryan to make sure this is completed as soon as possible,” a statement from the club reads.

“Our pursuit of an unnamed Cook Island player has unfortunately come to an end as our application for a discretionary visa was declined.”
