Tyson Frizell commits to Welsh cause

St George Illawarra Dragons forward Tyson Frizell has confirmed his commitment to Wales, with the player confirming that he will be available for the end of season internationals in 2015.

The second rower scored a try in the Dragons’ close win over Warrington in the World Club Series on Thursday evening, and sustained a concussion injury.

Prior the game, he had a meeting with Bob Wilson, the Wales Rugby League’s team manager, and affirmed his commitment to the men in red.

“I’m looking forward to coming back into the Wales camp following the NRL season and I’m determined to help Wales reach the 2017 World Cup,” said Frizell.

“I’ve spoken to Bob and John [Kear – Wales coach] as well as some of the Wales players and management from 2014, and they’ve told me about the fantastic team spirit that existed during last year’s camp.

“It certainly looks like that Wales Rugby League are going places and I can’t wait to add to my caps total.”

Wilson added: “Both John and I are delighted with Tyson’s commitment to help Wales reach the Rugby League World Cup 2017.

“Tyson was very enthusiastic for the future of Welsh Rugby League and he can’t wait to get going in the autumn.”

Frizell is a former Australian Schoolboys rugby union international. He qualifies for Wales through his Welsh father. His mother is Tongan.
