Ladbrokes Challenge Cup Round 4 preview: Leigh Miners Rangers v Oxford

Community side Leigh Miners Rangers take on League 1 Oxford in one of the most intriguing ties of the round.

Leigh Miners coach Alan Coleman has left no stone unturned in preparing his players for a very special match at Leigh Sports Village.

“We have had a video session with Leigh Centurions coach Paul Rowley and went through the last three games Oxford have played,” he said.

“We’ve certainly done our homework and feel very capable on what we’ve seen and what we can produce to make it a very, very close contest.

“We would have loved to have played at Twist Lane just because of the atmosphere and revenue we would have generated. It wasn’t to be but we’re really looking forward to it, it’s a special day for our club.”

Oxford coach Tim Rumford said: “It’s a big game for us, a fledgling club coming up against what I would call a National Conference powerhouse.

“They’re a team with bags of experience with players who have had experience in scholarships, academies and experience of playing Rugby League from a young age.

“We’ve got a good amount of rookies, which brings its own challenges, but it’s a challenge we certainly relish. It’s going to be tough for our guys to contend with some of the things they’re going to throw at us.

2We’re looking to take another step forward in terms of our performance. The potentially big prize at is you end up in the draw with some of the big boys so it’s about keeping people focused.”

The tie will be played at Leigh Sports Village, home of Leigh Centurions.
