The Morning After: Magnificent McShane, Reynolds-Sneyd combo & Castleford’s good attack
The Morning After looks at three talking points from the latest Super League action.
Magnificent McShane
Paul McShane produced a man of the match performance to inspire Castleford to a 21-12 victory over Warrington yesterday.
The 2020 Steve Prescott Man of Steel winner started at hooker but was made to go into the halves when Gareth O’Brien left the action, and McShane stepped up and delivered.
McShane was at the heart of everything the Tigers did in attack and led them around the park excellently.
He has made no secret of the fact he wants to be in England’s World Cup squad come the end of the year, and he is certainly giving himself a very good chance with performances like that.
Reynolds-Sneyd combo
The half-back partnership between Josh Reynolds and Marc Sneyd showed signs of great promise in Hull’s 22-10 win over Huddersfield.
Reynolds and Sneyd seem to compliment each other very well. Reynolds has a neat running game while Sneyd’s kicking and organisation guides Hull around the park.
Both players enjoyed fine performances yesterday, and Hull coach Brett Hodgson was pleased to get the win in his first game in charge. There are plenty of promising signs at Hull.
Castleford’s good attack
Daryl Powell’s side were really good to watch when they had the ball in their hands and their spine looked strong.

It was a blow for Castleford losing O’Brien to a concussion in the first half – but McShane, Jake Trueman, Adam Milner and Niall Evalds were at the top of their game.
Castleford’s attack was impressive. They were great to watch and put on an entertaining show in round one of the new Super League season.
The Tigers will no doubt want to send Daryl Powell on a high note this season, and they gave their coach a strong performance yesterday.
