Crarey wants Barrow to make Craven Park a fortress

Barrow Raiders coach Paul Crarey wants his team to make their Craven Park stadium a real fortress for the rest of the League One season.

The Raiders began their League One campaign with a home win over Swinton Lions on Saturday. The new Craven Park floodlights were also used for the first time for the convincing 50-12 victory.

“This league is going to be tough this year, there are some great challenges ahead for the team and fans, but we want to make Craven Park a fortress and tonight was a great start,” said Crarey, according to the North West Evening Mail.

“After last week we were disgusted in our performance and we stripped everything back to basics. We went back to week one of pre-season and just put some little things in place that got us to where we were.

“We’ve started from scratch. We have got some local players who have never played before, we have got some loanees, we have had to gel a side in pre-season.

“That went really well but then we had three straight losses, so for us it was getting back to where we were, showing what we did well.

“This team can play. If they get it right they get it right, if they get it wrong they look ordinary. So it’s about us getting it right more times than not this year. We are pretty exciting to watch.”
