Murray respectful of Scorpions threat to Crusaders

North Wales Crusaders coach Anthony Murray is hoping that his team can build on their recent form when they take on South Wales Scorpions this Sunday.

The Crusaders managed their first league win of the season last week, triumphing 24-16 at home to Barrow.

They successfuly clawed their way back into the game from a 16-6 half-time deficit, and Murray is hoping that the extra sense of occasion at the Big Welsh Derby in Cardiff can help spur his men to another win.

“I look forward to every game – whether it’s a derby or not – but I’m looking forward to getting my first taste of the Welsh derby as I’ve heard a lot about it”, Murray said.

“We’ll be going down there and we’ll be giving our full respect to South Wales Scorpions.

“Sometimes, when you’re languishing down at the bottom end of the league, like we have been with the start to the season we’ve had with two defeats, it can get tough, but it doesn’t mean you can’t play rugby.

“I’m sure that they’ll be up for it and wanting to get one over on us.

“We’ve had a tough start to the season and have been unlucky in a couple of games, so it was good to get that first win in the league.

“We’re looking forward to the Scorpions game and the Hemel one after that and, in those two games, there’s a chance for everyone to put their hand up and show what they can do ahead of the final in Blackpool.”
