Kingstone Press Championship Round 16 preview: Featherstone Rovers v Halifax

Featherstone Rovers had a convincing 44-16 victory over Batley Bulldogs last week.

Coach Andy Hay said: “It was a good win, we scored all the points in the first half. Batley rallied in the second half but I think we were too far ahead.

“Halifax have been playing some good stuff and been picking up wins along the way. We’re sat just in front of them in the table so it’s a big game for both clubs.

“We’re at home again and just trying to prove we’re a top four side. Halifax will be coming to do the same.”

Fev will be missing forwards Paul Wood and Reni Maitua who are both suspended.

Richard Marshall’s Halifax side go into the game on the back of a good win at Workington Town.

“Workington away is never easy but we had a good game,” he said.

“We probably could have and should have scored a few more points but we defended very, very well and came away with the win, which was very pleasing for the players.

“Featherstone is a big game, we’re looking forward to it. If we’ve got any aspirations to finish the season on a high this is a game we need to win really.

“It’s an important game for both clubs. We had a real good game against Featherstone at home at the start of the year, there wasn’t a lot between the two teams.

“Both teams have improved. They’re a good team at home, they use the slope well and have got the crowd at their back. We’ll have to combat all that.”

Half-back Danny Craven will be back this week for Halifax.
