Harvey Livett embarks on “Fast & Fresh” business venture outside of rugby
Salford star Harvey Livett has launched an exciting new business outside of his professional rugby league career.
The 24-year-old has teamed up with Plymouth Argyle footballer George Cooper and Dave Manfredi to launch Fast & Fresh, a new salad and deli bar based in Warrington town centre.
Livett came through the ranks at hometown club Warrington, making almost 50 appearances for the club before enjoying a loan spell with Hull KR and then moving to Salford.
Now, the England Knights international has started his first ever business that he will manage alongside his rugby duties.
Speaking to Love Rugby League, Livett said: “It has been brewing for quite a while to be honest. It was an idea that my mate came to me and asked if I fancied going into business with him and doing a healthy food business.
“It isn’t the prepped meal type place, it is more of a salad and deli bar. I thought it was a decent business opportunity and I don’t think there are many places around Warrington that actually does what we are going to do.
“Rugby is not a long career. The average age of finishing is probably around 34 if you’re lucky but it is about planning for the future now and getting a bit of an investment instead of finishing and having nothing.
“It is about starting early now, I know I’m only 24 and I’ve got a few years left in my career but I want to invest in this new venture. I’m proud to be from Warrington so hopefully I can give something back and a get a decent business set up that people can enjoy and come down here to get some healthy food.”
Fresh & Fast will be based on Academy Way in Warrington town centre and are aiming to open up to the public on May 17.
Livett added: “May 17th is the idea. It might be pushed back because of the pandemic but we are hopeful of that date or around then.
“We’ve got quite a few things to sort out like getting equipment in and getting the signage done but we’ve got all that prepared and it is a matter of just ordering stuff in now and kitting it out. The idea we’ve got in our heads is 17th May, so hopefully we can open for then.
“We have still to finalise our opening times but we plan on opening Monday to Saturday, and our opening times will be something like 8am-5pm. We will serve breakfast until around 10:30am before that changes to the lunchtime menu which will be the salad and deli stuff. We will also be selling healthy juices and that type of thing.
“It is more of a health kitchen. There are a lot of uni students around Warrington town centre so hopefully we can appeal to that audience.
“Hopefully we can get quite a few familiar faces down for the opening of it and I know a few of the boys are helping by posting it out on social media so hopefully we can get a few faces down.”
