Sunday Social: Bevan French returns, 200 Super League tries for Ryan Hall & Briers says goodbye

It’s time for Love Rugby League’s Sunday Social, your alternative recap of the serious and not so serious talking points from the past seven days. 

Bevan French marked his return to action with a brace as Wigan maintained their unbeaten start to the season with victory over Castleford. How about this for link-up play between the Australian flyer and Wests Tigers-bound half-back Jackson Hastings.

Hull KR made it back-to-back wins with a commanding 26-6 triumph over injury-hit Leeds at Craven Park. And how apt was it that winger Ryan Hall, who won six Grand Finals with the Rhinos, scored his 200th Super League try against his former club. 

The NRL celebrated its annual ANZAC round this weekend, with a number of teams donning special kits in tribute to Australian and New Zealand-born military personnel who sacrificed their lives during conflict.

Warrington assistant coach Lee Briers had this message for the fans after the club announced he would be leaving his position at the end of the 2021 campaign. Briers has spent 25 seasons at the club as player and coach. 

There’s clearly no love lost between Scott Taylor and Joe Westerman! The two former team-mates collided as Hull FC preserved their 100% winning record under head coach Brett Hodgson with a hard-fought win at home to Wakefield.  

And finally, on the night that Benji Marshall equalised Adam Blair’s record for the most NRL appearances by a New Zealand-born player, he came up with this special, match-clinching play as South Sydney edged Gold Coast in an 11-try thriller.
