“Greg will be in the 17” – Steve Price confirms Greg Inglis will make his Warrington debut this weekend
Price said: “Greg will be in the 17 this weekend. You’ll have to find out on game day whether it’s off the bench or starting.
“It’s exciting for the club and it’s exciting for Greg. He can’t wait for the game. There is no expectation from our point of view, we just want to see Greg enjoying his rugby again.
“He’s on schedule. He hasn’t played for two seasons and he’s got to get his body right.
“I’ve said all along we’ve got a responsibility to make sure we get him right so he can stay out on the field hopefully for the duration of the season.
“He’s in good shape, mentally he’s good, him and his girlfriend are very happy, and that’s the main thing from our perspective.
“We’ve had to hold him back a little bit but the time has come.”
Price is confident that Inglis will be able to play the full game if he is put straight into the starting line-up.
He added: “He’s worked hard and, if we felt that he couldn’t play 80 minutes, then we wouldn’t put him out there this weekend. He’s ready to go.”
Inglis’ eagerly-awaited comeback promises to be a low-key affair, with Saturday’s game played behind closed doors and shown exclusively to season-ticket holders via the Our League app.
Price said: “We always had a plan and the plan falls on this Saturday. We’re lucky that it’s at the Halliwell Jones but it’s unfortunate there will be no supporters there.”
Warrington’s Toby King expects his new centre partner to grab the headlines but is determined not to be over-shadowed by his presence.
King said: “Rightly he’s going to get the limelight, he’s been the best centre in the world.
“He’s been buzzing to get himself fit and it’s going to be exciting. He’s naturally really gifted, he’s going to be hard to put down for sure.
“But I don’t want to be in the shadow of Greg, I want to do the best I can this year to try and out-shine him.
“It’s for me to play my own game and write my own headlines.”
