GB Armed Forces lose to Australian Combined Services

Great Britain Armed Forces lost their clash with the Combined Australian Services on Wednesday in Brisbane.

The final score was 26-24, with a last-minute try winning the game for the Australians.

GB head coach Warrant Officer Damian Clayton felt that his team should have hung on to the win.

“With two minutes to go and two points up, we should have controlled things better,” he said.

“The game changer for me was when the ball bounced to their player after we had stormed out of the blocks, it just didn’t fall our way and they scored in the first half.

“After that score we struggled to gain the momentum we had from kick-off. We battled back and got our rewards by levelling it at 22-22 and getting ahead by two with eight minutes to go.

“The lads wanted to keep playing and fair play to them for that, but I am heartbroken for them, to have come so far, to have done so much, and to lose like that.”
