RFL congratulates Sheffield Eagles on 1000th game
RFL chairman Brian Barwick has offered his congratulations to Sheffield Eagles, as the club readies itself for its 1000th senior game against Featherstone Rovers on Sunday.
If the Eagles win the game at the Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster, then they will have secured a top-four finish and a place in the Middle Eights.
“One thousand matches is a significant milestone and I would like to congratulate all those involved with Sheffield Eagles on this outstanding achievement,” said Barwick.
“It’s not easy starting any club from scratch and the story of Sheffield Eagles continues to serve as an inspiration to the newest members of the sport’s growing family.
“Sheffield have made a valuable contribution to both rugby league and sport in the city of Sheffield over the last three decades and we wish them well for the future.”
The Eagles have invited 1000 local schoolchildren to the game to help mark the occasion.
Barwick thinks that it is a fine and appropriate gesture from the club.
“I think it is a great way for the club to mark this historic day by inviting the children and shows that they are at the heart of their community,” he added.
