German international hits Oxford milestone

Oxford‘s captain Andy Hoggins is set to hit a significant milestone this weekend, when he plays his 50th game for the club.

The German international will be the first player to reach the tally of 50 games, and so creates a club record.

Hoggins joined Oxford in 2012 from Southampton Spitfires, following a trials day. He has signed a deal for the 2016 season with the club too.

“It’s never entered my head about making 50 first team appearances,” he said.

“When I joined I had two aims, try and get a first team spot and then improve to help do my bit to establish Oxford Rugby League as a club.

“It’s great to reach the milestone and I’m also really pleased to have signed for the Blues again. We’ve got our focus on the run in to the end of the season and it’s still hard work – that’s the order of the day.”

Oxford head coach Tim Rumfordhas been delighted with the forward’s ongoing performances and his loyalty to the club.

“Hoggy has been a really consistent performer for us this season and his commitment to being the best he can be is superb, and I am very pleased to secure his services again,” he said.

“He’s shown real loyalty to the club and everyone from the board down, hold him in the highest regard and appreciate his commitment enormously.”
