Crarey wants to keep Bullock at Barrow

Barrow coach Paul Crarey would like on-loan Leigh forward Joe Bullock at the Raiders next season, in a new role as a development officer.

Crarey hopes that the inducement of the new role will encourage Bullock to stay on as a player with the Raiders.

“Myself and David Sharpe (Barrow chairman) have got a meeting with schools about putting a development officer in there, hopefully that will be one of the players that will move down here and do that,” said Crarey, according to Cumbrian paper the North West Evening Mail.

“I would love to see the likes of Joe Bullock in the schools, he would maybe be ideal for that role if he would do it.

“It would be a great role for him, he is a great lad, and if there is any way we could do and get him in, we will.

“We did a five-week programme with Dowdales, which was a massive success. Joe helped me with that and he was absolutely outstanding.

“It was a great success and Joe really grew in that role with those kids. He is a big, imposing figure, but he is also soft-hearted and good-natured, so he would be great.

“The kids could relate to him if he’d do that role, but it is all on whether it comes off after the meeting with the schools. Hopefully it will.”
