Adrian Morley to retire at end of season

Salford veteran Adrian Morley has confirmed that he will retire from playing rugby league at the end of the current campaign.

The titan of the sport, now 38, has enjoyed an illustrious career, and is the most capped England and Great Britain player of all time.

He played for Leeds, Bradford and Warrington in the UK, as well as Sydney Roosters in the NRL. He moved to Salford, his hometown club, in 2014.

Salford owner Dr Marwan Koukash paid tribute to the mighty prop forward.

“For me, he was always going to be Mr Salford,” Koukash told his club’s official website.

“When I took the club on, I needed a figurehead and there was never going to be anyone better to get on board than Adrian, he has been everything and more.

“I’m delighted that Adrian will be continuing his involvement with the club as an ambassador around the region. 

“I’m sure he will continue to be an inspiration off the field working with our local businesses and sponsors in driving further investment into the club and through developing our grass roots links and younger players. He will play a big part in the clubs progress in the years to come.”
