York’s Perry Whiteley joins Featherstone

Featherstone have announced the signing of Perry Whiteley from Championship rivals York on a short-term loan deal.

The deal sees Jake Sweeting go the other way to join the Knights under head coach James Ford on loan.

Speaking of the signing, Featherstone head of football, Ian Hardman said: “We’re really happy to have agreed a loan deal with York. Perry coming in will add to our options in the back-line, which is an area we are currently short in due to injuries.  It’s also great to see Jake going the other way for some much needed game time.  As a club we’re really grateful to Jon Flatman and James Ford for helping us get this deal done.”

Whiteley added: “I’m so grateful for the opportunity, I can’t wait to get stuck in and show what I’m about in what is a great environment at a great club.”

Rovers have also confirmed that Louis Sheriff has been released.
