Leigh have confirmed that Harrison Hansen have joined them, with the Samoan international forward signing a two-year deal at the club.

He also has the option of a further year, should things go well.

Born in New Zealand, but raised in northern England, Hansen is the son of former Salford and Swinton player Shane Hansen.

He has won England youth representative honours, but also played for New Zealand in 2006.

He subsequently played for Samoa in the 2008 World Cup, and would have repeated the feat in 2013 but for injury.

A product of the Wigan youth system, Hansen made his debut for the Warriors in 2004, and has spent the last two seasons at Salford.

“Harrison is a excellent professional who is held in high regard by fellow pros across the game,” said Leigh coach Paul Rowley.

“He plays tough and wears his heart on his sleeve. Myself and the lads welcome Harrison to the team and I look forward to him making a positive impact within the group.”
