Leigh caretaker coach Kurt Haggerty on Ben Reynolds injury and recruitment drive
Leigh could be without half-back Ben Reynolds for a couple of months, caretaker coach Kurt Haggerty has confirmed.
Reynolds, who returned to Leigh from Toulouse earlier this season, has suffered a knee injury and is facing a few months on the sidelines.
“It could be a couple of months,” Haggerty said. “It could even be worse. We are not 100% sure.
“We are just waiting on the final details from his scan.”
The Centurions will also be without Tyrone McCarthy for Thursday’s trip to Leeds, with the Ireland international suffering concussion following a collision with Sitaleki Akauola in last week’s defeat at Warrington.
Haggerty added: “I’ve touched base with Tyrone and we also spoke to his partner at the time who went to see him at the hospital.
“He is just starting to recover now and is just starting to come back into training to get checks on him but he is recovering well after a nasty incident.”
Leigh are boosted by the return of prop Alex Gerrard this week though as they begin to get bodies back from the treatment room.
Haggerty said: “We are getting middles back every week now so we’ve got Alex Gerrard who is contention this week.
“Jordan Thompson has got another game under his belt so he’ll be better for that last week so we are starting to get forwards back again which is good.”
Haggerty also confirmed there is a recruitment drive ongoing at the club, who are open to permanent or loan signings.
He said: “We are still pushing. There is a big push at the moment and we are hoping to know more within the next week or two.
“We would be interested in loan but we would also be looking to the end of the year and to next year also. We are scouring every possibility.”
