Brooks proud after Scotland debut
Whitehaven forward Sam Brooks is very proud, after making his international debut for Scotland against France last weekend.
Although Scotland lost the game 32-18, the 22-year-old was very pleased to have played at international level.
“There were mixed emotions after the game,” Brooks told the Whitehaven News & Star.
“We were disappointed with our first half performance and we spoke about that at half-time.
“We said with it being the last half of the tournament we needed to go out there and save face and I think we did that.
“We started slowly and were caught a bit short, and they had quite a few players from Catalans Dragons in their squad but we dug in and we’ll get a lot of experience from that game.
“The effort was there and the average age of our squad is only 22. To play in the Four Nations next year would be a dream come true.
“England, Australia and New Zealand are the best teams in the world and you want to be playing them.”
