Rona in international tug of war

Canterbury Bulldogs winger Curtis Rona is in line for selection for two countries for the Four Nations at the end of this year.

Rona, who was born in New Zealand but moved to Australia at the age of eight, has yet to play international rugby league.

The 23-year old was picked for New Zealand‘s tour of England last year. He did not play in the first two Tests and then returned down under before the third Test for the birth of his daughter.

Love Rugby League understands Scotland is keen to cap the dynamic winger if he is not selected by the Kiwis at the end of this season.

“I was told by my manager Scotland inquired about my services,” Rona told Love Rugby League.

“My granddad is Scottish.”

Rona’s preference is to represent New Zealand.

“It would be a honour to play for both countries but New Zealand is where I pledge,” he said.

Rona could face stiff competition for a place in the Kiwis squad for the Four Nations with the likes of Manu Vatuvei, Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Jason Nightingale and Jordan Kahu all after spots.

The Bulldogs flyer made his NRL debut for the Cowboys in 2014. He scored 25 tries in just 26 games for Canterbury in 2015.
