Rams loaned out

Dewsbury Rams have loaned Jason Muranka to Newcastle Thunder and James Delaney to Hemel Stags on one-moth loans.

Muranka was named in the 19-man squad ahead of Thunder’s win at Oxford on the opening day of the League 1 season, but was not named in the match day 17.

He is expected to play a role for the side in the weeks ahead, while Delaney could make his debut for Hemel in Saturday’s trip to France to face Toulouse Olympique.

“I got a phone call from Troy Perkins regarding a hooker being required and I spoke with James last night about heading down there,” explained Dewsbury coach Glenn Morrison.

“We’ve organised a month-loan, which officially started yesterday, and hopefully he’ll be in the squad to face Toulouse on Saturday.

“He’s getting some much-need game time, particularly as the Reserves aren’t in action yet, and especially now that the team’s first fixture has gone due to Sheffield Eagles dropping out.

“And I also spoke with Jase, who’s been very unlucky not be picked for the first team. He’s been 18th man a number of times. I’ve had a good talk with him and I want him to be playing, but the players in his position have been performing well.

“Newcastle will provide an opportunity over the next month for Jason to play in a good competition and in some tough games that will hopefully keep him ticking along.

“It’ll get him match fit and hopefully he’ll be able to push for selection here when he returns.”

The pair join Zach Johnson in heading out of the club on loan to League 1 clubs.

Prop forward Johnson has linked up with Hunslet Hawks on a one-month arrangement and made his debut for the club in the defeat to Rochdael Hornets on Sunday.
