Briggs relishing clash with Eagles

Featherstone Rovers stand-off Kyle Briggs is looking forward to the chance to tangle with some familiar faces when Sheffield Eagles at home on Friday evening.

Briggs spent over a year with the Steel City side, before re-joining Fev ahead of the current campaign.

“They are always really competitive and tough encounters when Rovers and the Eagles meet and I’m expecting nothing different on Friday evening,” he said.

“There are few ex-Eagles players in our ranks as well as a couple of ex-Fev lads in their squad so that will add a bit more spice than usual.

“However, as always, we are going in to the game concentrating and implementing our own game plan. We’ve started well this season and the boys backed this up on Saturday evening with the victory in the Challenge Cup.

“We are looking to have a good Easter period as we head in to April, starting this Friday.”

Briggs is hoping that the Rovers home support can cheer the team to victory.

“It was well documented that last year during the regular Kingstone Press Championship campaign, our home form was not that clever and it was something that as a group of coaching staff and players that we identified as definitely something to improve upon,” he added.

“It always help when we have our vocal support cheering us on, so I’m hoping people get to the game in numbers. Evening games under the lights are always special at the Big Fella’s Stadium, so it should be a great night to kick off the Bank Holiday weekend.”
