Lo tipped for Workington return

Sheffield’s Garry Low could return from injury against Workington Town this weekend.

The Papua New Guinea international has only made two appearances for his new club because of a dislocated shoulder.

“The problem is still there for him. It is still ongoing,” Sheffield coach Mark Aston told The Sheffield Star.

“The shoulder has had all the correct scans and they have shown up nothing too severe.

“The injury isn’t serious but it is one of those painful areas that still need to settle down so he can play.

“It has taken time, we have now decided that we are going to give him a cortisone injection to try and settle it down, and then hopefully we can get him back playing again.”

Aston is hopeful the 22-year-old could be back for Saturday.

“We have seen in his fleeting appearances what he can do,” Aston said.

“He showed glimpses against Bradford and it has been frustrating not to have had him available.

“I am hoping he will be right for Workington – it depends on how the injection goes. If the cortisone settles the swelling down then he could very well be in line for a return on Saturday.”

Second-rower Duane Straugheir is expected to be out for a minimum of six weeks following a successful operation on a fractured eye socket.
