Tickle taking return steady at Tigers

Castleford back rower Danny Tickle has revealed that he will be paying close attention to his health, as he looks to re-establish himself as a Super League player with the Tigers.

Tickle endured a long lay-off after being assaulted in November outside a nightclub. CCTV reportedly showed the attacker hitting Tickle form behind, and the player’s head then hit the floor.

Tickle was left with a small, but acute, bleed on the brain, and now has to monitor his health very carefully, after signing for the Tigers recently.

“I’m real thankful that Cas have given me an opportunity and hopefully I’ll take it,” the former Widnes man told Rugbyleague.com.

“As soon as I start getting headaches, then it’s not for me. I’ll have to think of another option away from rugby but I’ve not had any symptoms and I’ve certainly been put through my paces at Cas.

“Whatever club I went to, they’ve got a duty of care to make sure I’m in the right state of mind and so have I.

“I wouldn’t be putting myself out there saying I’m okay just to get back to playing if I didn’t feel right.

“It was just a long process of recovery. The neurologist advised me what to do and I stuck to that. I did a lot of research myself and I’m very aware of what I need to do to make sure I’m right.”
