McNally calls for noisy crowd

Leigh fullback Gregg McNally wants the Centurions fans to make it as intimidating as possible for Salford when the two sides meet tomorrow in the Middle 8s.

The Red Devils head to the Leigh Sports Village on Saturday with both clubs unbeaten after the first round of the Super 8s.

“Playing at home is always brilliant for us,” McNally told Love Rugby League.

“When the north stand is loud it really can be intimidating. The fans have got to make it loud Saturday as it really does help us players.”

Leigh started their push for promotion with a 30-34 victory over London last weekend.

“It’s always good to start with a win,” McNally admitted.

“It took us four games to get two points last year so we’ve already improved on last year which is what we’re aiming to do.

“Last year hurt and it’s important we use that as a motivator to keep on improving.”

McNally said his side is fully aware of the challenge Salford will bring tomorrow. The Red Devils put Huddersfield to the sword last weekend.

“We’re just making sure we concentrate on ourselves and our own performance,” the veteran said.

“It’ll be a real tough game against Salford, they’re a top six side if you give them the points back, so we’ll have to make sure we’re all on top of our game.

“You always want to test yourself against Super League sides and Saturday will be no different.

“They’re a real good side Salford though and we can’t afford to play like we did last week as they’ll really punish us, they’ve got quality all over the field.”
