Willie Mason released by Catalans

Catalans Dragons have confirmed that they have released forward Willie Mason from his contract at the club with immediate effect.

Currently sidelined with an avulsion fracture and ankle ligament tears, Mason has been given permission to leave the club.

“It is bad news to see Willie ruled out for the rest of the season with a bad injury,” Catalans CEO Christophe Jouffret said.

“Willie had a fantastic career in the different clubs he played for and on the international stage with New South Wales, Tonga and Australia.

“He will remain among the great players who have worn the Catalans Dragons jersey. We would like to wish him all the best for the future.”
