Adam Walne enjoying his rugby again as Barrow continue unbeaten run
Barrow forward Adam Walne says he is enjoying his rugby once again and has praised the team as Raiders continue their unbeaten run.
Paul Crarey’s side sit top of the Betfred League 1 table, claiming eight wins so far and one draw in the home clash against Workington, with more than 3,000 in attendance at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium.
Most recently, the Raiders claimed a 31-6 victory over Doncaster at home, with both Walne and his brother, Jordan, featuring in the starting XIII.
“I am really enjoying my rugby once again and that is really down to the bunch of lads we have and the way the coaching staff treat its players, with honesty and respect,” said Walne.
“When that’s the case you get the most out of your players and I think that’s playing a big part in us going unbeaten so far this season.
“There is a real buzz starting to build each week and it’s a pleasure to be a part of this squad, we have a real good mix of players that are all great blokes as well.
“It’s awesome to have the fans back in numbers cheering us on it makes a huge difference. And credit to our chairman Steve Neale and everyone else involved with the club for their forward thinking behind the scenes to give all the fans a real quality game day experience.”
The Raiders travel to Cougar Park this Sunday to face Keighley, with a 2pm kick-off, in League 1.
Keighley sit fourth in the league table, but Walne admits there’s no easy games in this division, commenting: “We are top of the league and every team we play wants a piece of us and this weekend at Keighley will be another big game for us as a group.”
Raiders return home on July 25 when they host Coventry Bears.
