McDermott warns about pressure of Middle 8s

Leeds coach Brian McDermott admitted his side needed to learn how to cope under pressure ahead of the upcoming Qualifiers after defeating Hull KR by two points.

The Rhinos just managed to edge past the Robins in a see-sawing encounter.

“There are some things that we could have done better but I think you have to pay Hull KR a lot of credit” McDermott told Sky Sports.

“There were two very nervous and anxious teams out there and Hull KR really defended their try line like never before.

“In that second half we got jittery and we’re a lot better than that but that is what intense games do for you and we need to get used to that.

“In terms of a practise run of what’s to come we have learned some huge things from that game.

“It makes it sweet because we end up coming away with a victory.

“I don’t know if we deserve it in that second half compared to how Hull KR played but we have had some rough calls and some tough games this year so I am not too bothered.”
