Leeds edge past Hull KR

Leeds Rhinos secured an extra home game in the Qualifiers, winning 20-24 against Hull KR at the KC Lightstream Stadium.

Rovers took an early lead courtesy of Matthew Marsh, who darted over after receiving a John Boudebza kick. Josh Mantellato nailed the subsequent conversion.

Mantellato could have scored Hull’s secnd try in as many minutes but fumbled the ball before Jimmy Keinhorst went down the other end and crossed for a four-pointer.

The Rhinos moved 6-12 in front after Rob Burrow touched down in the centre after dancing through Rovers defence.

Brad Singleton very nearly added his name to the scoresheet but was held up over the line.

Hull KR were back within two points shortly before the interval, Maurice Blair diving over after taking Albert Kelly’s pass.

They took the lead when Ken Sio rounded off a brilliant team effort two minutes into the second half, after Kelly intercepted Lilley’s kick.

Segeyaro went across for his first Leeds Rhinos try in somewhat controversial fashion after Burrow picked up the ball in an offside position.

Sutcliffe kicked the Rhinos 16-18 ahead with 15 minutes left to play.

Ryan Hall then made sure of victory, crashing over after intercepting Kelly’s pass to Mantellato.

Kieran Dixon did cross in the final two minutes but it was too late, as Hall’s try ensured the Rhinos finished the match as 20-24 winners.
