Robins rolled in derby dust-up

Hull FC consigned their city rivals to the Qualifiers with a 36-12 victory at the KCOM Stadium.

The Airlie Birds move back to the top of the table after defeating Rovers.

Ken Sio spurned a great chance to establish an early lead for Rovers, dropping the ball past the whitewash following the kick from Albert Kelly.

Liam Watts opened the scoring for Hull FC, grounding the ball after a short pass from Danny Houghton. Marc Sneyd nailed the subsequent conversion to give the Airlie Birds a 6-0 lead inside 11 minutes.

The hosts started to assert their early dominance with a second try in three minutes, Houghton crashing over a neat kick from Sneyd.

Mark Minichiello scored one of the easier tries of his career, going over near the posts after Sneyd’s kick was fumbled by Kelly.

Kelly went close to atoning for his earlier error three minutes before the interval, failing to ground the ball a metre from the line after a brilliant run, following the interception from Jamie Shaul.

Minichiello helped to put real daylight between the sides, receiving the pass from Sneyd before skipping past two Hull KR players and grounding the ball in the centre.

Steve Michaels added his name to the scoresheet for Hull FC, touching down in the corner after a pass from Mahe Fonua.

Adam Walker scored Rovers’ first try of the match in the 54th minute, crashing over underneath the posts after receiving the ball from Shaun Lunt.

Michaels went over for a second time, rounding off an excellent run and one-handed pass from Fonua. Sneyd successfully kicked the conversion to make it 36-6 with 12 minutes left.

Two minutes from the end, Iain Thornley scored a late consolation try for Hull KR as he skipped past two Hull FC players and dummyied beyond a third to dive over.
