Swinton confirm commmunity festival date

Swinton Lions have confirmed that they are holding their community festival at the site of their proposed new ground in Agecroft on Saturday July 16.

The event will run from 12pm until 4pm. The Lions players will train on the site for the first time, and there will also be a rugby festval featuring local clubs, as well as a host of other activities.

“This will be a landmark day for the club and we hope to see many supporters and their families at the event to support us which will make all our hard work off the field worthwhile,” said Lions chairman John Roddy.

“The Lions is a strong family and community club that respects its history and we want the Swinton community to make a big statement on Saturday that a stadium built within its community would be supported.

“We are working very hard with partners such as Salford City Council, Moorside Rangers and others to make this venture a success and we are really proud that on the day the local community has already got behind us through local community groups to make this event happen.

“The event is free for all and we hope to get over 2,000 people at the new Agecroft site to send out a very strong message that the club is needed back within the town.”
