No England switch for Moon

Leeds centre Joel Moon now qualifies for England through residency but the Australian is one player who won’t be putting his hand up to play for Wayne Bennett.

Moon, who was born and raised in north Queensland, moved to the UK in 2012. He joined Leeds at the start of 2013 and theoretically could represent England, after completing his three-year residency period.

Bennett is on the hunt for England-eligible players and has reportedly targeted a number of Australians in the NRL to switch allegience.

Moon knows Bennett well and played for three years under him at Brisbane.

But the 28-year old, who played for the Exiles in 2012-2013 against England, won’t be changing his international allegience if he gets a call from Bennett.

“No mate I’m Australian, through and through,” Moon told Love Rugby League.

“No chance.”

The centre, who also played for the Indigenous All-Stars in 2011, has won two Challenge Cups, a Super League grand final and the League Leader’s Shield in his time with the Rhinos.
