What’s on site

Relive the game on Saturday by reading our report on Saints’ come-from-behind victory over Castleford.

Congratulations to Featherstone too, who won the first silverware of the season by beating York in the 1895 Cup final at Wembley.

London Broncos’ move to AFC Wimbledon’s new stadium at Plough Lane has been officially rubber-stamped, after the local council threw out objections from local residents to grant planning permission for the groundshare.

This created some debate last week, as we picked a combined Celtic nations team off the back of Barrie McDermott’s suggestion to throw them in instead of the Combined Nations.

Our most commented on piece for a while, as we dissect Shane Richardson’s plans for British Rugby League.

What’s on social

This is going to catch on, made up for Kyle Amor.

Hopefully there’s greater opportunities for the RFL president to have her stamp on the game in the next 12 months of her reign.

Things you love to see. Note how he’s not bothered that the two teams are from (relatively) small towns in the north.

What’s in the papers

St Helens will parade both Challenge Cup trophies with an open-top bus tour of the town, with full details in the St Helens Star, after the men’s victory over Castleford added to the women’s recent success over York.

The Star also reports that Theo Fages will miss a few weeks of Super League action, after he was forced off injured at half-time in the cup final. Pain-killing injections affected his ability to pass in the first half, and Jack Welsby slotted in at half-back for the second.

James Roby is yet to make a decision on whether to play on next season, but the taste of cup success could tempt him to carry on (Manchester Evening News)

Warrington full-back Stefan Ratchford turns 33 today (July 19).

Also celebrating: New Zealand international Sam McKendry (32); prolific goalkicker Kirk Dixon (37); Australia and St George-Illawarra legend Mark Gasnier (40)
