Wakefield duo Reece Lyne and Brad Walker sign contract extensions
Wakefield duo Reece Lyne and Brad Walker have signed new contracts with the club.
England international Lyne, who recently made his 200th Wakefield, has signed up until the end of 2025.
The 28-year-old centre’s new deal will take him to 10 years at Wakefield, which will see gain a testimonial year.
He said: “To be able to continue at Wakefield is really pleasing and I’m extremely excited.
“I would like to thank Michael and the board for the faith they have shown in me. I have been here nine seasons now and loved every minute of it.
“As a person, and a player, I have evolved massively and I owe the club a great deal for that, which is one of the reasons I have committed for longer.”
Loose forward Walker, who joined Trinity from Widnes in 2020, has penned a new one-year deal with the club.
The 23-year-old made 40 appearances for Widnes before moving to Trinity. A former England Academy international, Walker has played 12 games for Wakefield so far.
He said: “I’m made up to get this deal over the line.
“I just want as much game time as possible, so I’ve really enjoyed it in recent weeks. I now just want that to continue, and I’ll be working as hard as ever for that to happen.
“No matter where I play, I will try my best and continue to enjoy it, so on the whole I’m delighted to be staying.”
Meanwhile, Wakefield have announced the signings of Warrington winger Tom Lineham and Leigh hooker Liam Hood for 2022.
Scotland international Hood, 29, is currently captain of Leigh and has signed a two-year deal with Wakefield rom 2022.
Hood said: “I’m buzzing, to be honest. I live in Wakefield now so it is nice to be closer to home.”
England Knights international Lineham, 28, has signed a deal with Trinity until the end of 2024 from next season.
Lineham said: “Wakefield is a really tough place to go and the club have some great, skilful players, who play a good brand of rugby.”
