Salford’s new coach will have the services of Super League’s leading try scorer Ken Sio after the Australian winger signed a new two-year contract.

The 30-year-old former Parramatta and Newcastle Knights player, who had a two-year spell in Super League with Hull KR from 2015-16, finished the regular 2021 Super League season with 19 tries from his 19 appearances, three clear of his nearest rival.RANKINGS: Top try, goal & points scorers in Super League, Championship & League 1

Sio has been with the Red Devils since the start of the 2019 season. His initial three-year contract was due to expire in November.

However, the club, who are looking for a new head coach after parting company with Richard Marshall, announced his new deal at the end-of-season awards on Wednesday night, when he was named as the players’ player of the year.

Meanwhile, it seems Krisnan Inu’s time at Salford has come to an end.

The 34-year-old, who can play centre or wing, has become a fan favourite at the AJ Bell Stadium since joining the Red Devils in 2019.

Inu helped Salford reach the Super League Grand Final in 2019 and the Challenge Cup final the following season.

The former New Zealand and Samoa international, who was named in the Super League Dream in 2020, has played 12 games for Salford this season.

Inu has taken to social media to thank the Salford faithful for their support during his time at the club.

Inu posted: “I wish to thank the club and fans for the last three years, but it looks like my journey as a Red Devil has come to an end.

“Where to from now? I don’t know but the fans have made my stay at the club a pleasure. I will be forever grateful for that. Good luck and peace out for now.”
