Danny Langtree set for Championship move
Oldham favourite Danny Langtree is set to join newly-promoted Championship side Barrow.
The 30-year-old forward has enjoyed more than 10 seasons at Oldham since joining them in 2012. He had a short stint with Super League side Hull in 2019.
Danny Langtree has featured more than 190 times for Oldham. He was a pivotal figure in their League 1 promotion campaign, scoring 18 tries in 18 appearances in 2019. He is also the club’s all-time record forward try scorer.
Oldham were relegated to League 1 following the 2021 campaign. But Love Rugby League can reveal that the forward will remain in the Championship with Barrow.
Excited to get started
Langtree said: “I’m very excited. As soon as I spoke to Andy Gaffney (player director) he told me about his plans and the team he’s getting ready for 2022. I’m looking forward to being a part of what should be good times ahead.
“As well as speaking to Andy and liking everything he was saying about the club and what the plans are, I spoke to a few of the lads like Carl Forster and Jamie Dallimore and they had nothing but good things to say about the club, so they played a big part in my decision as well.
“I’ve been told nothing but good things about the club, coaches and everyone at the club, so I’m looking forward to getting started.
“I just want to play as much rugby as I can and hopefully help Barrow finish as high as we can in the league next season.”
The Raiders lifted the League Leaders’ Shield at the end of the 2021 season with a record of 13 wins.
Paul Crarey has recently strengthened his Raiders squad following the signing of hooker Josh Wood from Wakefield, as well as confirming the re-signing of forward Carl Forster, who has also joined the coaching staff at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium.
