Matty Russell makes Super League move
Toulouse have signed Scotland international Matty Russell to their squad for their inaugural Super League campaign in 2022.
Russell, 28, made his first-team debut for Wigan before he became a Super League regular with Warrington between 2014 and 2018. He has also spent time with Hull FC and Swinton Lions on loan, Gold Coast Titans in Australia and Toronto Wolfpack.
He featured in Warrington’s 2016 Challenge Cup Final and Super League Grand Final defeats and was a part of the Wolfpack squad which earned promotion to the Super League in 2019.
The winger has won 11 caps for Scotland, and represented Leigh in 2021.
“I’m super excited to start in Toulouse,” he said.
“I’ve heard a lot of good things about this club. I like the philosophy of play instilled by Sylvain.
“I spoke with him a lot and it really made me want to join the TO. My family and I can’t wait to discover French culture.”
Club president, Bernard Sarrazain said: “Matty’s physical qualities and explosiveness complete our offensive range. I’m sure our home crowd will love to see Matty Russell perform on Ernest Wallon’s lawn.”
New faces at Toulouse
Toulouse have confirmed the signing of young centre Hugo Pezet.
Harrison Hansen, Lloyd White and Tony Gigot are among those who have signed extensions with the club for their first season in the top flight.
James Cunningham and Gadwin Springer are two new faces confirmed to be joining the squad.

Halifax have announced the signing of French half-back Louis Jouffret for the 2022 Championship campaign.
Louis Jouffret, 26, most recently featured for Whitehaven in the second division, playing a part in earning the side a play-off spot in the 2021 season. The club confirmed the departure of Connor Robinson. He is set to agree a deal with a club in League 1 for the 2022 campaign.
