Swinton retain services of young forward

Swinton Lions have announced forward Jordan Brown is the latest to commit to the club for the 2022 season.

Brown joined the club from Widnes Vikings ahead of the 2021 season, and went on to make nine appearances for the club. His only start came in their 66-18 defeat against Toulouse.

The 21-year-old also featured in Swinton’s Challenge Cup clash with Super League side Warrington Wolves back in April.

Speaking of his extension, Brown told the club website:”I’m buzzing to sign for another year at Swinton. Last year wasn’t the best year for me personally nor for the club, but I’m looking forward to ripping into pre-season with the lads.

“We are looking to correct a few wrongs and hopefully have a much better season in 2022.”

Head Coach Allan Coleman added:“It’s great to get Jordan over the line. He’s a big lad with bags of potential and he’s still only 21 years of age, Jordan is very keen on getting in a big pre-season, and he is someone that I know will work very hard.”

Swinton continue their rebuild

Swinton are continuing to build their pack up ahead of their attempt to return to the Championship in 2022 at the first attempt.

Nick Gregson, Luke Waterworth and Jose Kenga are among those to re-sign recently, with Jordan Case, Jack Spencer and Matty Wilkinson among those to come in.

Brown played with new Lions signings Case and Lewis Else for Widnes Vikings back in 2020.

It is also a third re-signing in three days for the Lions. Gregson signed three days ago, while Liam Forsyth signed a new deal on Tuesday.
