Kaide Ellis has joined Wigan for one reason only – to win
Australian prop Kaide Ellis insists he has not joined Wigan for a holiday and that he wants to win trophies with his new club.
The 25-year-old forward has joined the Warriors on a two-year contract, with the option of a third.
Ellis has made 26 NRL appearances for Penrith Panthers and St George Illawarra. He insists he wants to achieve success with Wigan in Super League.
He told Wigan TV: “Coming from the NRL, I don’t want to feel like I can just walk in.
“I want to earn the respect, start at the bottom, work my way up and hopefully push my way into the starting side.
“I don’t want to get into the mindset that I’m here to travel and play footy. I’m here to play footy and I’m here to win. It’s the only reason I came – to win.”

Kaide Ellis excited to work under Sean O’Loughlin
Ellis also revealed he is looking forward to working under club legend Sean O’Loughlin. He will be assistant coach to Matt Peet this year.
He added: “I had done some research on pictures and I know players like Sean O’Loughlin. I’ve watched him play in the World Club Challenges and things like that so it is pretty cool to work under him.
“But it wasn’t until I actually seen it all up front, it actually blew me away with how professional it is. It has got the playing staff, coaching staff and media all in one building so it feels like everyone is together which makes for a successful club.”
Wigan confirm two new signings
Wigan have signed centre Iain Thornley and Brazilian prop Ramon Silva on two-year deals, with the option of a third year.
Thornley, 30, returns to his hometown club seven years after leaving for rugby union club Sale Sharks. He arrives at the Warriors from relegated Super League side Leigh.
Brazilian prop Silva, 20, arrives at Wigan from London Broncos. The Sao Paulo-born forward moved to the UK with his parents when he was three-years-old.
Silva spent three years in London’s academy system where he played alongside his new Wigan team-mate Kai Pearce-Paul.
