Doncaster keep former Union forward
Doncaster have announced loose forward Ross Whitmore has signed a new deal for the 2022 season.
The former Huddersfield academy graduate signed for the Dons ahead of the 2021 season from rugby union side Yorkshire Carnegie.
In his debut campaign in South Yorkshire, he made 20 appearances for the club. The Dons found themselves just 80 minutes away from promotion. However, they were beaten by Workington Town.
Talking to the club website, Whitmore said:”I am very pleased and grateful to be able to represent the club again, it was an easy decision for me to stay.
“The work the club is doing and the direction they want to go in is something I want to be a part of.
“Personally, it was a big learning curve last season being my first in men’s rugby and it was good to get so many games under my belt.
“I am looking forward to using that experience to better myself in pre-season ready for a big 2022 campaign.”
League One fixtures
Doncaster will start their League One campaign against the newly-formed Midlands Hurricanes on 27th March at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Before then, their Challenge Cup campaign is due to get underway at the end of January. The League One clubs enter the competition ahead of the second round.

The club have been bolstered by several re-signings in the last week. Aaron Ollett-Hobson, Aaron York and Brandan Wilkinson have all committed to the club in the last week.
In the last 24 hours, the club have also announced the signing of hooker Greg Burns from Championship side Sheffield Eagles. He is the second signing at the club after half back Connor Robinson signed from Halifax Panthers.
