Rochdale keep experienced Fuifui Moimoi
Rochdale have announced forward Fuifui Moimoi will play on for another season in 2022.
The 41-year-old initially signed for the Hornets ahead of the 2021 season from Workington, and the prop is showing no signs of slowing down.
He made his rugby league debut in 2007 for Parramatta Eels, and spent eight years there before moving over to England in 2015.
Moimoi initially signed for Leigh in the Championship. He spent two years there before going to join the inaugural Toronto Wolfpack side.
He spent a year with the Canadian side, before signing for Workington in 2018. The New Zealander spent three seasons in Cumbria before moving to the North West with Rochdale.
In 2021, he made 12 appearances for the Hornets, scoring eight tries. He scored against Coventry, Keighley, Workington, North Wales, West Wales and Barrow.
Moimoi “a character” at Rochdale
Speaking to the club website, Head Coach Matt Calland said:“Fui is great to have around and is a larger-than-life character defying all odds by playing at his age.
“He was one of our best performers last season giving us real impact off the bench. He leads from the front and doesn’t say too much but he certainly leads with his actions he’s really enjoying his rugby at Rochdale and that shows in his performances.”
Chairman Andy Mazey added: “We are absolutely delighted that Fui has decided to go round again with us.
“Fui put his hand up during the tough times this year when injuries and covid crippled us, often doing big minutes in the middle.
“He’s a brilliant character to have around the place and our young forwards can only learn from a truly iconic figure in the sport of Rugby League.”
