York poach another from Castleford
York Ladies team have announced the signing of forward Jasmine Bell from Castleford for the 2022 season.
Bell joins teammate Tara Stanley in North Yorkshire, after she was confirmed on Monday.
The pair also join the likes of Rhiannon Marshall, Kelsey Gentles, Sinead Peach, Grace Field, Tamzin Renouf and Georgie Hetherington at the club. Lindsay Anfield is also the club’s Director of Rugby.
Bell, who can play at either loose forward or prop, is experienced in the Women’s Super League, having previously played for Featherstone as well as Castleford.
She was Players’ Player of the Year for the Tigers in 2021. She had initially signed for the club ahead of the 2020 season, before the season was voided.
Bell looking forward to new challenge at York
On her move, Bell said: “It’s amazing. I’m looking forward to the opportunity of being at a new club and having new experiences.
“I’m wanting a new challenge and a change of scenery. I have obviously worked with Lindsay (Anfield) before and I wanted to be coached by her again.
“The stuff that she did for me off the field as well as on the field, in her own time like taking me running was great.”
Assistant coach Callum Windley added: “First of all, she is going to be a brilliant addition to the squad.
“Jas can play in the front row, as well as loose-forward, and she offers us a different opportunity to play. We’re looking forward to using those skills in the season ahead and we have had to fight off some competition to sign her, as she was highly-sought after by a few clubs.
“She was blown away by the facilities and she couldn’t wait to join the club. We’re looking forward to her joining the squad and I’m sure she will fit in brilliantly.”
