Adam Swift hoping for another big year with Hull FC

Hull FC winger Adam Swift is hoping to carry on his good form for the club into the new season.

Swift will head into his third season with the club. He signed from St Helens ahead of the 2020 season, but struggled for game time in his first year, managing only five appearances. But he did end his season on a good note, with two tries in a 26-23 win over Wakefield.

However, since the arrival of Brett Hodgson as Head Coach, Swift has been able to hold down his spot. He played 19 games, and managed an impressive return of 14 tries.

He was the top try scorer for the Black and Whites in 2021. That figure could potentially been higher as well, but a foot injury picked up in a freak accident at home ruled him out of the last three matches of the season.

Swift relief at signing new deal

The 28-year-old has now fully recovered, and is hoping to carry on where he left off.

In an interview with the club website, Swift said: “It was a frustrating end to the year not just on the results front but also suffering an injury that kept me out of the last few games.

“It was a much better season for me in 2021 than my first year at Hull, so it’d have been nice to finish on a high note but it wasn’t to be after a freak accident at home.

“I dropped a boiling pan of water on my foot – total freak accident. I went to A&E to get it sorted but there was no chance of me playing in those last few games, I couldn’t even get my shoe on, let alone play a game of rugby. So it was a sad way to end the season on a personal note.

“But signing a two-year extension with Hull earlier this year was a big relief for me because I’ve loved my time at the club and my family are loving it over here, too.”
