Brisbane sign former Warrington Women’s forward
Brisbane have announced the signing of former Warrington forward Roxy Murdoch ahead of the 2022 season.
Murdoch, who is the wife of Tongan international forward Ben Murdoch-Masila, was due to play for Sydney in 2021. But the competition was delayed because of the pandemic.
Murdoch-Masila will be located in nearby Redcliffe for most of the 2022 NRL season. The Warriors decided to relocate there because of “ongoing border volatility” caused by the pandemic.
While the Tongan international Murdoch-Masila was at Warrington, Murdoch herself became captain of Warrington’s team.
She was part of the side that won the RFL Championship Grand Final in 2019. This earned them promotion to the Super League, along with Huddersfield.
On the new signing, coach Kelvin Wright told the club website: “Roxy is a skilful backrower who is going to be a fantastic asset to our team and club. We’d like to thank the Sydney Roosters for their co-operation throughout the transfer process.”
Brisbane announce another new signing.
Brisbane’s Women’s team have also announced the signing of former rugby union player Hagiga Mosby.
She used to play Sevens Rugby for Queensland and also used to be a junior touch football representative for the state.
On her, Wright added: “Hagiga (Haj) is a very talented and exciting outside back.
“Haj will come to Brisbane and join the squad in early January, where she will also continue her Bachelor of Education. In the meantime Haj is with her family on Thursday Island, where she is preparing for a great season and year ahead.”
