Jack Walker: This year is massive for me
Leeds full-back Jack Walker says 2022 is a massive year for himself personally and is hoping for an injury-free season.
The 22-year-old has been unlucky with injuries over the last two years. He picked up a foot injury which saw him miss the most of 2020; and then suffered the same injury again which saw him ruled out for the entire 2021 season.
Walker suffered another setback at the start of pre-season this year due to a torn hamstring, but is back with his team-mates preparing for what is hopefully going to be an injury-free season ahead.
Jack Walker on aims and aspirations for 2022
Speaking to the club’s YouTube channel, Walker said: “I’m buzzing to be out there with them. I come back, had a week of pre-season and then tore my hamstring so I was gutted but I’m back out there and I’m loving it.
“It’s been a couple of weeks now where we thought about going back early or sitting it out and we decided the smart thing to do was make sure I was 100%. I’m just proper itching to get back out there. It is good to be back around them so I’ve really enjoyed it.
BACK WITH A BANG: Jack Walker tipped to be like a new signing for Leeds in 2022
“I just want to get back in with the boys. I’ve been out nearly two years now and I just want to play. I just want to be around them, train and play. I’ve still got Richie Myler in the way, I know I got the (number) one shirt but I still feel like I’ve got to get in front of him. I’m just trying to play my best game and see what Agar says.
‘It is probably one of the biggest year’s of my career. I just feel like I need to be available to play and make sure I’m ready throughout the whole year and have an injury-free season really and do a job on the field so it is a massive year for me.”
