Pre-season round up: Four players honoured with testimonial matches
There were nine pre-season friendlies this weekend, including Championship club Bradford beating Hull in Danny Brough’s testimonial match.
On Saturday, there were two friendlies. Jack Ashworth scored a hat-trick to help Huddersfield ease past Championship side Dewsbury 42-12 in Michael Knowles’ testimonial.
Salford brushed neighbours Swinton aside with a comfortable 48-12 win at the AJ Bell Stadium. Brodie Croft opened his Salford career with a try on his first appearance.

In Sunday’s games, Workington clinched the Ike Southward Memorial trophy as they defeated rivals Whitehaven 18-14 at Derwent Park.
Barrow beat fellow Championship side Newcastle 34-22 at home. France international Hakim Miloudi got on the scoresheet for the Raiders.
In Brough’s testimonial, Bradford were 42-18 victors against a young Hull side. Bradford winger David Foggin-Johnston scored a double for John Kear’s side as they ran in seven tries.
A young Leeds side edged past neighbours Featherstone 30-22. Two second half tries from Sam Walters and Alex Mellor helped the Rhinos secure the win.
Wakefield registered their first pre-season win after a solid 54-24 victory over Halifax at The Shay. All eyes were on former Ireland international Scott Grix, who ran out on the pitch for the final time in his testimonial match.
In Danny Craven’s testimonial, Widnes ran out 24-18 winners against Batley at home. Craven himself got on the scoresheet alongside Jack Owens, Ollie Brookes, Ryan Ince and Sam Wilde.

Castleford brushed York aside 32-10 at the LNER Community Stadium. USA international Bureta Faraimo bagged a brace for the Tigers.
