George Lawler on new club Castleford and where he will play in 2022
Castleford’s new signing George Lawler is loving life as a Tiger right now, and is willing to play wherever he is asked by Lee Radford this season.
The 26-year-old will play for a different Super League club for the first time in his career this season. He has joined Castleford on two-year deal from hometown club Hull KR.
“I’m really enjoying it,” Lawler told Love Rugby League. “It is like being the new kid at school, I’m fully embracing it and I’m loving it.
“I think there are eight of us new lads but settling in has been easy and it has felt natural. We are gelled as a group and I’m looking forward to the season starting next week.
“For me, I needed a bit of a change and a change of scenery. Castleford are a passionate group of players and the fans are as well so I’m enjoying it.”

Castleford announce 2022 squad numbers
He has been given the number 10 shirt this season, previously worn by club legend Grant Millington who retired at the end of last season.
“I’ve got the number 10 shirt on my back so that is probably an indicator of where I’m going to play,” Lawler said.
“No matter what number is on your back, you still have to do a job so I’ll play anywhere.
“When I first started playing rugby I was a half-back so I’m slowly just going up and putting more weight on!
“I just want to play consistently well and I think that’s the goal for the team as well. We want to be consistent throughout the year and hopefully make the play-offs at the business end of the year. That’s the main goal for me.”
Lee Radford’s side get their Super League campaign underway on Friday, February 11 (8pm). They welcome Salford to the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.
