Matty Dawson-Jones happy to be playing again
Bradford winger Matty Dawson-Jones has said just playing again is making him happy, after picking up a try double against Dewsbury.
Dawson-Jones only played two games in the Championship last year because of injury. He initially signed for the club ahead of the 2020 season from Hull FC. He previously scored four tries in four games in 2020 before the season was voided.
The 31-year-old hopes to repay the faith of the club, after signing a one-year deal towards the end of 2021.
Speaking to the club website, Dawson-Jones said:“The team performance, aside from the last ten minutes in both halves, were pretty much perfect and we stuck to the game plan. On a personal level, playing was enough for me so to get the two tries topped it off I was happy.
“I was having a bit of a crack with the boys. I didn’t see a lot of the ball in good ball areas in the trial matches. So it was nice to get two early ones and hopefully I can get a few more this season.
“The first game of the season is always hard as you never know how the other team are going to come out and play so we just needed to stick to what John tells us and we did that for long periods.
“You can see the togetherness is there in the squad even with the new faces coming in and it is something John spoke about in pre-season.”
